Oedipus Rex (Storr Translation) by Sophocles (497 BCE - 406 BCE)

6

Oedipus the King (often known by the Latin title Oedipus Rex) is an Athenian tragedy by Sophocles that was first performed c. 429 BC. It was the second of Sophocles's three Theban plays to be produced, but it comes first in the internal chronology, followed by Oedipus at Colonus and then Antigone. Over the centuries, it has come to be regarded by many as the Greek tragedy par excellence. (Summary by Wikipedia)

    Weird… but good quality
The voices were very strange and the effect on the chorus was very annoying. It honestly gave me a headache. They could have made the episodes a bit more specific, (ex. Lines 1-200), instead of just part 1 and part 2, which made it pretty hard to follow along with the text. (I was listening to this podcast for school) Overall, the quality was great. Most of my complaints are just personal concerns. I LOVED the story and I’m sure someone who’s not in my situation will really enjoy this podcast!

    Very Well Spoken!
Greek names and cities tend to twist the eyes as well as the tongue making audio books very hard to understand, however, the voice actors speak with such clarity and articulation. At times, it goes a little fast, only in the sense this play has many similes and metaphors your mind is quickly trying to process, not a fault of the actors. This play is spoken true to the original play! Very well done!
